More of our back story
A look ‘behind the curtains’ at how Joining The Dots Theatre Company came to be.
Because we’re the type who don’t stop dreaming, we, Sydney-based actor Alison Chambers and American/Sydney transplant playwright/producer Jo Kadlecek-Gilbert, co-founded Joining The Dots Theatre Company in 2018.
It was the culmination of many conversations and theatre experiences over many years, across two different countries. In other words, we are a newish theatre company with a history, small but mighty in vision.
Together we fell in love with the language and story of Pulitzer prize-winning play, “W;t” (by Margaret Edson) and knew it’d be our first show. In 2018, we booked the Noosa Arts Theatre for Dec 5th to the 8th and recruited Jeffrey S. Miller, a world-class director from Boston. We then secured ridiculously talented Noosa/Sydney-based actors to fill out this beautiful story, as a gift for the Noosa community.
Soon after, we found many supportive partners to celebrate our new company and the first production. And in doing so, raising awareness and research gifts toward ovarian cancer (the storyline of “W;t”). We proudly donated over $1,000 for Cancer Council Queensland from
We believe theatre brings people together for stimulating conversations, igniting our imaginations and making us better human beings along the way. We love the ripple effect theatre can have in helping build community and contribute to the common good.
