Our Backstory

In 2018 Noosa-based American author/playwright/producer Jo Kadlecek-Gilbert and Sydney-based actor Alison Chambers were introduced by a mutual friend. They had a cup of coffee. And a long conversation. The idea of putting on a show together grew legs. All the pieces of this puzzle fell into place for a season of “W;t” by Margaret Edson at the Noosa Arts Theatre. Directed by Boston-based Jeffery S Miller and pulling together a cast of Sydney and Noosa actors it went down a treat and propelled the team to look for what might be next for Joining the Dots.

Our Name

Two things. Firstly, we love the way theatre can bring people together: connecting in various human dots to tell and experience a story.

Secondly, in that very first and wide-ranging conversation Jo introduced Alison to three writers who had significantly impacted her thinking and creative process. The writers were Dorothy Day, Dorothy Parker and Dorothy L Sayers. Three Dots …
